The Characters
The Bennet Family Descriptions
Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennet:
The main character and second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. She is a determined young lady who believes in being fair and just. She believes that marriage should not be out of convenience, but out of love.
Jane Bennet:
Elizabeth's older sister. She is extremely kind and good-willed and is closest with Elizabeth. She is in love with Mr. Bingley.
Mary Bennet:
Elizabeth's younger sister. She is considered to be 'the only plain one in the family'. She attempts to make up for her looks with other talents, but usually comes off as desperate.
Catherine (Kitty) Bennet:
The second youngest sister. She is quite immature and shallow. She loves to flirt with the young officers that come into town, and is very naive.
Lydia Bennet:
The youngest of the five Bennet sisters. She follows Kitty's lead, and, like Kitty, is a flirt and a show-off. She is very naive.
Mrs. Bennet:
The mother. She is very foolish and overly conscious of her reputation. She is shallow and her main concern is getting her daughters married.
Mr. Bennet:
The father and head of the house. He is a sensible and thoughtful person, who is probably not the most appropriate husband for Mrs. Bennet, as he is a lot more intelligent and thoughtful than her, although he is not particularly determined or strong-willed, and never stands up for his daughters. He loves Elizabeth the most out of all his daughters.
